50 cm Teleskop
The Ernst Hartwig Telescope
In September 2013 the old 60cm Telescope had been replaced by a more modern one. In addition the mount has been upgraded.
The new equipment consists of a 50 cm Planewave CDK Telescope and a 10Micron 4000 HPS mount. The telescope was named Ernst-Hartwig-Telescope (EHT), after Ernst Hartwig, the first director of the Remeis Observatory.
For the readers interested in the technical details:
- Corrected Dall Kirkham type (CDK)
- spherical primary-, elliptical secondary mirror
- full compensation of aberrations
- focal length 3454 mm
- aperture ratio f/6.8
Since the 1960s, there have been no scientific observations at the Remeis Observatory anymore. With the new instrumentation, it is possible to revive these observations. So far the EHT has been used for searching exoplanets with the timing method and as the main instrument for the MAPLE
